Biography

After graduating with a bachelor's and masters in public health degrees from Brigham Young University in 2008, Heather Thiesset started a journey in clinical research at the University of Utah. She completed her Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 2019 with a dissertation studying the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of providers in prescribing opioids for pain control in the surgical setting. In 2019 she left her position as the Associate Director of Research and Science for the Department of Surgery where she oversaw the clinical research efforts and clinical trial design for 150 faculty in order to pursue her love of teaching. She is currently an adjunct faculty at several universities throughout Utah.

Research Interests

Opioid use in the clinical setting as well as population including rural, cancer, and post-partum mothers.
