Health Science Emphasis
In the Health Science emphasis, students explore integrating public health with primary care, working with vulnerable and diverse populations, and managing and analyzing quantitative health data. While many students acquiring a degree in Public Health - Health Science go on to clinical careers, many others pursue careers in related public health fields.
Courses in the Health Science emphasis help students prepare to work in the following settings:
- Entry or mid-level positions in public health agencies or public health-related practice
- For-profit and non-profit health agencies and organizations
- Health care organizations as health educators, health navigators, or health program managers
- Community health promotion
- Public health or health care-related research
- Entry-level positions in government public health departments
- Pursue a master’s degree in general public health or in a specific focus such as health policy, infectious and chronic disease epidemiology, bio-statistics, molecular biology, physiology, or health education
- Obtain an advanced degree in health care or allied health fields such as health services administration, medicine, dentistry, physician assistantship, occupational therapy, physical therapy, public health nursing practice, or medical dietetics.
